Calls for Action in Support of JK Emerge, Here's KALLA's Response
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Information has recently circulated regarding a Call to Action in Support of Jusuf Kalla (JK). This action, in the name of Laskar Garuda Indonesia Bersatu, is set to take place in Makassar, South Sulawesi.
In response to this, KALLA, through its Chief Legal & Sustainability Officer Subhan Djaya Mappaturung, expressed gratitude for the sympathy and support from the public towards Jusuf Kalla.
“However, we emphasise and call for sympathy and support not to take the form of protest actions that could disrupt order and peace. We must all work together to maintain harmony,” Subhan stated in a written statement on Thursday (16/4/2026).
Additionally, Subhan advised against any mass movements in the form of demonstrations in support of Jusuf Kalla, who is currently being questioned by certain parties. He also requested that there be no acts of incitement exploiting the situation.
“We believe the wider public is well aware of Mr Jusuf Kalla’s track record in government, including his role as the initiator of peace in the Ambon and Poso conflicts,” he explained.
Therefore, Subhan appealed to the government and law enforcement to anticipate and prevent actions taken in the name of Jusuf Kalla. This is to maintain peace and stability in society.
Based on gathered information, the demonstration is scheduled for Friday, 16 April 2026, at 14:00 WITA. The action point is at the Flyover and the DPW PSI Sulsel Office.
“Once again, we emphasise that the public should not be provoked and should not participate in calls or invitations to protest actions linking to the defence or support of Mr Jusuf Kalla,” he concluded.
