REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, INDRAMAYU – Hundreds of farmers affiliated with the Indramayu Farmers Union (STI) staged a long march from Indramayu to the State Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (23/7/2026). The action was carried out as a form of protest against promises made by the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) that have yet to be realised.

The farmers’ walk began in the Karangsinom area of Kandanghaur District. They marched along the Pantura northern coastal route towards Jakarta.

STI chairman Casudi explained that the farmers were pressing the Ministry of Agriculture on two promises, which ultimately prompted them to take action. First, the two Groundwater Irrigation Network (JIAT) points pledged during the Farmers’ Day commemoration on 24 September 2025. Second, the proposal for agricultural machinery and equipment assistance (alsintan) previously submitted by STI to the ministry.

“We are demanding the Minister of Agriculture keep his promise,” said Casudi.

Casudi stated that the long march reflected the farmers’ seriousness in fighting for their rights. He stressed that they would continue their struggle until they obtain certainty.
