Cak Imin Warns PBNU Congress Against Money Politics: Let's Purify NU Again
PKB Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar, known as Cak Imin, stated he is not backing any specific candidate for the chairmanship of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU). Speaking in Jakarta on Sunday, he said the selection of the new leader should be entirely left to the congress participants. Cak Imin warned against the use of money politics in the election process, urging members to expose any such practices. He emphasised that NU must not be tainted by financial interests, including internal disputes over assets, and called for the organisation to be returned to the authority of the ulama. The upcoming congress has seen several names emerge as potential candidates for chairman, including Marzuki Mustamar, Imam Jazuli, Abdussalam, Muhammad Yusuf Chudlori, and Abdul Ghaffar Rozien.
