Cak Imin Visits Temple in West Jakarta, Commemorates Lunar New Year and Distributes Basic Goods
Jakarta - PKB (National Awakening Party) Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar, known as Cak Imin, visited Avalokitesvara Temple on Jalan Mangga Besar, West Jakarta. He joined in commemorating Lunar New Year and distributed basic goods packages to residents.
Based on detikcom’s observation at the location on Sunday (2/15/2026), Cak Imin was personally welcomed by the Chairman of the Indonesian Mahayana Buddhist Supreme Council and the leader of Avalokitesvara Grand Temple, Maha Bhiksu Dutavira Sthavira.
Also present at the event were MPR Deputy Chairman Rusdi Kirana, Deputy Minister of Industry Faisol Riza, DPR members Daniel Johan and Abdul Halim Iskandar.
Cak Imin and the officials then distributed basic goods packages. Local residents who had been waiting at the venue received their share.
In his speech, Cak Imin said the Lunar New Year of the Fire Horse is not merely a cultural celebration. He said this year’s Lunar New Year is a moment for reflection on the importance of moral leadership and shared responsibility to bring prosperity and welfare to the people.
“This reflection applies to everyone: leaders, the public, prominent figures, and all the people. Not only in Indonesia but around the world. Especially with the goal of placing humanity as the highest priority,” Cak Imin told the audience.
Cak Imin reminded that hostility and war only bring suffering. He said Indonesia must continue to move forward in line with the demands and developments of the times.
“Because Indonesia exists among diverse communities. We face national challenges that are very real. The still-widening social inequality, economic pressures on our people, the rampant environmental crisis, and natural disasters that keep occurring. Just recently, major natural disasters struck across Sumatra,” he said.
Subsequently, Maha Bhiksu Dutavira Sthavira expressed his joy at the Lunar New Year activities held by PKB this year. He thanked PKB for wanting to celebrate Lunar New Year together.
“May this Year of the Fire Horse bring a spirit of progress for the nation and country. In particular, may all the people live more prosperously and be able to face life’s challenges, which are not easy,” Dutavira said.
He continued that the Chinese people discovered a way to perceive the energy of the universe. He also observed how Muslims who perform dhikr (remembrance of God) generate tremendous energy.
“I am quite pleased if those who are Muslim can strengthen their dhikr, because through dhikr, the aura of conscience can receive blessings from heaven and practice them on earth, enabling one to be self-aware, carry oneself well, place oneself properly, and improve oneself. Most importantly, to be able to repay kindness,” he explained.
