JAKARTA — The Coordinating Minister for People’s Empowerment, Muhaimin Iskandar, or Cak Imin, has urged that public facilities owned by the state or BUMN allocate a minimum of 30 percent of space for micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM/MSMEs). He made the remarks at the Jejak Jajanan Nusantara festival in the South-West Parking area of Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), Senayan, Jakarta, on Sunday, 8 March 2026. ‘This model of collaboration will be a blueprint for implementation across regions, especially in utilising public spaces. GBK is a public space that remains very open. Besides being leased profitably by GBK authorities, I believe at least 30 percent should be set aside, not for profit, and given to MSMEs so they can access,’ Cak Imin said. ‘The Jejak Jajanan Nusantara festival’s second edition is very interesting and has received enthusiastic participant support, leading to high attendance. This is a collaboration that can be emulated among BUMN, the central government, small and medium businesses, and productive housewives,’ he added. At the festival, he noted, around 64 business actors participated, comprising MSMEs and cooperatives. Cak Imin said the strong public enthusiasm shows the culinary sector remains the main driver of domestic economy. He also stressed the importance of using domestic raw materials so the culinary industry can survive amid global economic dynamics. ‘The way forward is that the inputs must be domestic, not dependent on imports, to stay viable. So regardless of what the global economy does, we remain active in the culinary sector and in our domestic market.’ Looking ahead, the Jejak Jajanan Nusantara programme will be expanded to several regions. Aceh is scheduled to host a similar event next.
