TANGERANG, KOMPAS.com - Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Affairs, Muhaimin Iskandar, stated that Japan is becoming a priority destination for the placement of Indonesian migrant workers (PMI). The reason is that the demand for PMI in Japan continues to increase year after year. “We will make Japan one of the priorities,” said Muhaimin Iskandar at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang City, on Friday (3/4/2026). Through the PMI channel, workers can work while enhancing their capacity at the global level. “The opportunities are increasing, the numbers are growing larger, and the needs in Japan are also getting higher,” he said. The PMI being sent to Japan have undergone training and are ready to work immediately upon arrival in the destination country. The job sectors targeted by Indonesian citizens in Japan are diverse, such as manufacturing, industry, and machinery. “We keep looking for opportunities, we keep pushing,” he added.
