Cak Imin Speaks Frankly on 2029: Prabowo Remains Strong, PKB Realistically Backs the Winner

Jakarta, VIVA – The General Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB), Muhaimin Iskandar, has spoken out on the political competition landscape leading to the 2029 presidential election. He stressed that future contests cannot be viewed simplistically, including in terms of financial strength.

“The competitive conditions for parties in 2029 are not straightforward. Those with funding are not guaranteed to win, and those without may still prevail. Therefore, PKB is preparing militant, strong, and resilient cadres ready to face any competition,” Muhaimin stated, as quoted on Sunday, 12 April 2026.

He claimed that PKB is now focused on strengthening its cadre development machinery as the primary strategy to address future political dynamics. In fact, he mentioned that cadre training has been conducted massively across Indonesia.

“And we are grateful that it has gone well, with over 1,000 cadre training sessions already held. This means fulfilling the party’s constitutional and philosophical obligations, namely cadre development,” he continued.

According to him, cadre development is not merely an internal programme but a mandate of the law that all political parties must implement.

“The political parties law and our national constitution require parties to conduct cadre development. It is an absolute obligation that cannot be negotiated, and alhamdulillah, PKB has been able to carry it out on a large scale across the country. Tonight, we honour those who have succeeded,” he explained.

However, when asked about his chances of running as a presidential or vice-presidential candidate in 2029, Muhaimin immediately deflected. He emphasised that he has not considered personal ambitions.

“Oh, we’re not thinking about 2029 in terms of myself personally yet; the party comes first,” he said.

Interestingly, in another statement, Muhaimin offered a realistic view on Prabowo Subianto’s prospects in the 2029 presidential election. He even stated that Prabowo remains very strong if he runs again.

“In 2029, Pak Prabowo is still running and remains very strong; therefore, PKB must be realistic. If Pak Prabowo runs, he will surely win, and we support the winner,” he asserted.
