Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) was summoned by President Prabowo Subianto to the State Palace on Tuesday (12/5/2026). During the meeting, Gus Ipul stated that he would report on the implementation of strategic programmes in his ministry. “First, regarding data updates. Second, regarding targeted social assistance, and third is the People’s School. These are the three developments we have made that we intend to report,” said Gus Ipul to reporters. He mentioned that he would seek guidance from the president on the follow-up actions required for these programmes. Regarding the People’s School, the 2026-2027 academic year teaching activities will take place in July. “Insha’Allah, we will start the teaching in July with an allocation of 32,000 students for this year. Last year, there were more than 15,000, meaning that combined this year, there will be around 46,000 People’s School students. That is what we will report,” said Gus Ipul. Regarding social assistance, he hopes it will not demotivate the public from participating in other government empowerment programmes. “That is why there is now a Coordinating Ministry for Empowerment. With the community, especially those of productive age, participating in government empowerment programmes, it is hoped that this will contribute to poverty alleviation,” he stated.
