Cak Imin: Prabowo's Economic Orientation Correct, Implementation Remains the Challenge
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar, Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB), commonly known as Cak Imin, has assessed that President Prabowo Subianto’s economic orientation is already correct. However, he noted that significant challenges remain in its implementation. “In my view, what is not yet right is the implementation. Our main problem lies in the execution,” Cak Imin stated at the parliament complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday. To address these concerns, PKB organised a public discussion titled “New Direction of the Constitutional Economic Mandate,” featuring former Finance Minister Fuad Bawazier, senior economist Ichsanuddin Noorsy, and CELIOS Director of Fiscal Justice Media Wahyudi Askar. Cak Imin expressed hope that the outcomes of the discussion could serve as a reference for stakeholders and help the public understand the new direction of national economic development. “I request that this discussion be recorded and summarised properly, as the technocratic and implementation aspects are present in this forum,” he said. Meanwhile, PKB Deputy Chairman Faisol Riza described the discussion as the party’s effort to realign the national economic development paradigm with the constitutional mandate. “This discussion is part of PKB’s 28th anniversary, aiming to affirm that Indonesia’s economic development must return to a perspective and mindset consistent with the constitution,” said Riza, who also chairs the anniversary committee. Deputy Chairman Rusdi Kirana reinforced that the theme of constitutional economics is not merely a political slogan but a genuine commitment by PKB to oversee the direction of national economic policy. “We hope this theme does not become just a political narrative or campaign slogan. It is a commitment to restore the national economic direction so that it remains grounded in the constitution, places the people at the centre of development, and achieves social justice for all Indonesians as mandated by Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution,” he said. The peak celebration of PKB’s 28th anniversary is scheduled to take place in Jakarta on 23 July 2026, with President Prabowo Subianto invited to attend and deliver a speech.
