Cak Imin: Prabowo's Economic Orientation Correct, Implementation Remains the Challenge

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar, or Cak Imin, Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Central Executive Board, considers President Prabowo Subianto’s economic orientation to be on the right track.

Nevertheless, Cak Imin sees major challenges in the economic orientation that forms part of President Prabowo’s vision.

“In my view, what is not yet right is its implementation. Our main problem lies in execution,” Cak Imin said at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday.

For this reason, PKB is holding a public discussion titled ‘A New Direction for the Economic Mandate of the Constitution’, featuring Finance Minister from the 1998 period Fuad Bawazier, senior economist Ichsanuddin Noorsy, and Media Wahyudi Askar, Director of the Centre of Economic and Law Studies (CELIOS).

He hopes the results of the discussion can serve as a reference for relevant stakeholders, as well as help many parties understand the new direction of national economic development.

“I ask that this discussion be properly recorded and summarised, because the technocratic and implementation aspects are precisely what this forum offers,” said Cak Imin.

Meanwhile, Faisol Riza, Deputy Chairman of the PKB Central Executive Board, views the public discussion as an effort by PKB to restore the paradigm of national economic development so that it is once again grounded in the mandate of the constitution.

“This discussion is also part of PKB’s 28th anniversary, which seeks to affirm that Indonesia’s economic development must return to a perspective and mindset consistent with the constitution,” said the Chairman of the 28th Anniversary Committee.

Deputy Chairman of the PKB Central Executive Board Rusdi Kirana also emphasised that the constitutional economics theme is not merely a political slogan, but a genuine commitment by PKB to safeguard the direction of national economic policy.

“I hope this theme will not only become political rhetoric or a campaign slogan. This is a commitment to restore the direction of the national economy so that it remains anchored in the constitution, places the people at the centre of development, and realises social justice for all Indonesians as mandated by Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia,” said Rusdi.

The climax of PKB’s 28th anniversary will be held in Jakarta on 23 July 2026. PKB has also invited President Prabowo Subianto to attend and deliver a speech at the event.
