Cak Imin Pays Tribute to Try Sutrisno: A Figure of Trust and Responsibility
Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar, Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB), expressed his condolences over the death of Indonesia’s sixth Vice President, Try Sutrisno, who passed away on Monday at 06:58 WIB at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto Hospital in Jakarta, at the age of 90.
“To Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return. We all mourn the passing of Mr. Try Sutrisno. He has left a long history of dedication and service to Indonesia,” said Muhaimin Iskandar, commonly known as Cak Imin, in a statement in Jakarta on Monday.
Cak Imin assessed that Try Sutrisno left behind a legacy of strong leadership and commitment to preserving national unity during his years of service, both in the military and government sectors.
“We learn that public office is a trust, and service is an honour. He has fulfilled this responsibility with the utmost dedication,” he said.
He also prayed that the deceased would receive the best place in God’s sight and that his bereaved family would be granted strength and patience.
“May the deceased rest in peace with a good ending, and may the family left behind be granted patience and strength. Farewell, General. Thank you for your service to Indonesia,” he added.
The deceased’s body was planned to be transported to his residence on Jalan Purwakarta, Menteng, Central Jakarta, before subsequent honouring and burial ceremonies. Sutrisno was known as a military figure and statesman who served as Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia during the 1993-1998 period. His death serves as a moment for reflection on the long contribution of national leaders in building Indonesia.
The body is scheduled to be buried at Kalibata Heroes Cemetery in South Jakarta this afternoon.
