Cak Imin: Our National Purpose Is to Restore the People's Economic Rights

National Awakening Party (PKB) Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin) stated that the theme of PKB’s 28th anniversary is ‘A New Direction for the Constitutional Economic Mandate’, simplified as ‘Prabowonomics’. According to him, this theme represents a form of gratitude as well as PKB’s commitment to continuously support the new direction of national economic development. This is hoped to bring Indonesia to become a self-reliant nation. ‘And all of us in PKB are inspired by the spirit and sincerity of the President to continue guiding this new economic direction amidst various challenging circumstances, both geo-economic and geopolitical,’ he said at PKB’s 28th anniversary celebration at the Jakarta Convention Centre, Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday (23/7/2026). According to Cak Imin, this commitment is in line with the spirit of Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution, which the President has frequently emphasised. ‘The kiai, the ulama, we often hear the President say, ’Before you sleep, remember Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution. When you wake up, remember Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution’,’ he stated. He assessed that this message also aligns with PKB’s commitment to restoring the people’s economic rights. ‘This is the same as PKB’s hope and commitment that our main purpose as a nation is none other than to restore the people’s economic rights so that prosperity can be realised as quickly as possible,’ he explained. Therefore, in line with the results of the ulama’s ijtima, PKB highlighted the importance of national economic independence and the need to end dependency on external parties. ‘PKB is committed to what the kiai conveyed in the ijtima, which is very firm that what the President is leading to realise national independence through this new economic direction is a long-standing dream, where for no less than 25 years we have surrendered ourselves to various global developments so that we have unconsciously neglected to organise and manage our own strengths,’ he revealed. ‘Our dependence on the global market has even reached a level where we forget that our immensely rich natural resources have not been fully safeguarded by our own hands,’ he concluded.
