Cak Imin Launches Sigap Bangsa Disaster Response Organisation

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Chairman of the Central Executive Board of the National Awakening Party (PKB), Abdul Muhaiman Iskandar, also known as Cak Imin, has officially launched a disaster management organisation, Sinergi Aksi Peduli Bangsa (Sigap Bangsa), at the National Disaster Management Agency’s Training Centre in Bogor Regency, West Java, on Saturday.

“There is a new organisation called Sigap Bangsa. It was established to anticipate disasters and to be an effective organisation in disaster management,” said Cak Imin in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Saturday.

He added that the formation of Sigap Bangsa represents a new step for PKB in strengthening community involvement in disaster management.

“We hope more and more people will become involved in disaster management. I am confident that disaster management methods, techniques and strategies in Indonesia will continue to advance,” he said.

“PKB will continue to involve communities so that they become resilient citizens equipped with the skills and strength to face disasters,” he said.

Meanwhile, Marwan Dasopang, Head of PKB’s Central Executive Board for Disaster Management, said the formation of Sigap Bangsa reflects the party’s expanding contribution to society.

“Today, PKB is not only present as a political party, but also addresses social and community issues. The launch of Sigap Bangsa is also a gift for PKB’s 28th anniversary,” said Marwan.

In the same statement, Sigap Bangsa was said to have already trained 250 disaster response volunteers.

The programme will continue to be expanded through similar training in various regions to strengthen the network of disaster volunteers ready to be deployed whenever needed.

The peak of PKB’s 28th anniversary celebration will be held in Jakarta on 23 July 2026. PKB has also invited President Prabowo Subianto to attend and deliver a speech at the event.
