JAKARTA — Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar has stated that his proposal for work from home (WFH) arrangements for civil servants represents one measure to conserve fuel consumption in response to potential energy price increases amid global conflict, specifically the Iran war.

The proposal was put forward by Muhaimin as a precautionary step to address the potential rise in energy prices during the ongoing global conflict in Iran.

“For example, it is being studied so that traffic congestion does not occur. Jakarta’s congestion wastes fuel, and when fuel becomes scarce, if the war does not stop soon, the price will rise,” said Muhaimin following a free mudik (homecoming) departure event at the PKB Central Executive Office in Central Jakarta on Sunday, 15 March 2026.

“How would this work? By having civil servants work from home, limiting those who come to the office,” he added.

Nevertheless, Muhaimin emphasised that the idea was merely his personal proposal and remains under study within government.

“But this is only my proposal. My proposal is a means of reducing fuel consumption,” he said.

“Yes, it is my personal proposal, and it is being studied at the Ministry of State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform level,” Muhaimin stated.
