Cak Imin and Nusron Wahid Attend IKA PMII Halalbihalal, Consolidation Ahead of NU Congress?
The national board of IKA PMII held a halalbihalal gathering at Grand Mercure Kemayoran in Central Jakarta on Sunday night (19/4/2026). Muhaimin Iskandar, chairman of the national advisory council of PB PMII and general chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB), stated that the event was aimed at strengthening solidarity. “Alhamdulillah, today is the IKA PMII halalbihalal, which has many alumni spread across various professions, party backgrounds, and even different cultures,” said Muhaimin during the event on Sunday night. The man familiarly known as Cak Imin did not elaborate further on whether the event was intended for consolidation ahead of the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) congress scheduled for August 2026. However, he reminded that serving in PMII is a calling of the heart. “All of this (cadres) joined PMII because of a calling, a calling to do something for the good of the nation and state, whatever the issues. We are called to do our best,” he said. As the former NU chairman for the 2022-2027 period, Nusron assessed that PMII should naturally always think about NU. “First of all, PMII is a child born from the womb of NU and NU’s intellectual child. If PMII thinks about NU, it is an obligation and a necessity,” stated Nusron. Nusron found it odd if PMII did not consolidate, especially when alumni from other student organisations were consolidating for NU. Therefore, according to Nusron, IKA PMII alumni are obliged to consolidate, one of which is to formulate improvement efforts so that the movement of the ummah is more productive and brings benefits to the organisation and Nahdliyin. “(The improvements cover) vision, intention, and ahead is better leadership,” said Nusron. Previously reported, NU plans to hold its congress in July or at the latest August 2026, one of the agendas being the election of the NU national board chairman. The congress preparation process has already begun, marked by the formation of the core committee.
