Cafe and Money Changer in South Jakarta Raided Over Three Corruption Cases, Police Warn Against Obstruction

Polda Metro Jaya has reminded all parties not to obstruct the search process being conducted by a joint team from the Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortastipidkor) and the Polda Metro Jaya Special Criminal Investigation Directorate. The warning was issued during a search at Cafe de’CLAN Signature and Koin Money Changer in the Cipete area, South Jakarta, which is linked to investigations into alleged corruption, bribery, gratuities, and money laundering (TPPU).

Polda Metro Jaya’s Head of Public Relations, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, urged all parties to respect the ongoing legal process. ‘We need to convey to our colleagues, we appeal to all parties to respect the process being carried out by the Police,’ Budi said at the search location on Wednesday, 8 July 2026. He stressed that anyone attempting to hinder the investigation could be processed according to applicable legal provisions. ‘We convey to anyone who tries to obstruct the investigation process, they can be processed under Article 21 of the Anti-Corruption Law,’ he stated.

Budi also confirmed that all actions taken by officers during the investigation were in accordance with procedure. ‘Polda Metro Jaya and the National Police Headquarters continue to adhere to the principles of professionalism, proportionality, and accountability, and all police actions can be accounted for,’ he said. Regarding the presence of heavily armed Brimob personnel securing the search, Budi explained that this was part of the standard operational procedure applied in every similar activity. ‘The use of personnel strength is for anticipation and is part of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) carried out by the Police,’ he said. He added that the same security pattern was also applied at six other locations targeted for searches in the same operation. The search process aims to find and secure evidence to fulfil the elements of the alleged criminal offences.
