Jakarta, VIVA – Political communication analyst Hendri Satrio views Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya’s visit to the People’s School in the Pejompongan area of central Jakarta as an example of effective public communication precisely because of its simplicity.

According to him, not many officials are willing to bother going down themselves to see the actual reality right in front of their eyes.

“It’s fine, indeed it’s that simple, but this needs to be highlighted because rarely does anyone want to do it. I think many officials know there are problems like this, but knowing alone is not enough,” said Hendri Satrio to reporters, quoted on Thursday, 23 April 2026.

It is known that the visit was carried out by Cabinet Secretary Teddy together with the Social Minister to directly check the condition of children who have been out of school.

Hendri Satrio assesses that the visit can allow the public to see for themselves who is serious about serving the people.

“If officials are willing to be present, to sit, to speak directly with the children, no more words are needed. The public can judge for themselves who is serious and who is not,” he said.

He also highlighted the way Cabinet Secretary Teddy communicated during the visit, where there was no long speech and no series of data on programme achievements.

Teddy, during the visit, only interacted directly with the children and gave brief statements based on what he saw in the field.

“I see this as honest communication: action first, then speak, not the other way around. Come, see, listen, then convey it as it is. That’s actually the hardest thing to do,” he said.

He added that this communication pattern aligns with what he views as an improvement in the Palace’s communication lately. According to him, this is not about how often officials appear in the media, but whether that presence feels genuine or not in the eyes of the public.

“If this is done consistently, not just once and done, I don’t need to say it’s good or not, but society itself will conclude,” said Hendri Satrio.

“And if it’s like that, no narrative can counter the trust that forms organically,” he added.
