Jakarta (ANTARA) - Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah transport operations have run smoothly and in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s expectations, following direct field monitoring.

“This year, it is our collective hope, the hope of Mr President (Prabowo Subianto), that the Eid transport runs better. And alhamdulillah, so far it has proven to be the case,” said Seskab Teddy when met on the sidelines of inspecting the Eid return flow at Pulo Gebang Terminal in Jakarta, early Wednesday morning.

The Cabinet Secretary assessed that the handling of Eid transport, both outbound and return flows, shows significant improvement compared to previous years, with travel conditions remaining smooth despite the increased public mobility.

He emphasised that the government targets continuous improvement in the quality of Eid transport organisation each year, in line with efforts to enhance the system and cross-sector coordination.

According to him, the previous outbound flow had run smoothly, and the current return flow period also shows the same trend with minimal significant disruptions.

Teddy mentioned that there was one point that experienced a vehicle buildup, but the situation was quickly addressed by field officers, so it did not have a widespread impact on travel smoothness.

He assessed that the swift response from the Ministry of Transportation and the Indonesian National Police has been a key factor in maintaining traffic flow stability during the Eid period.

In direct monitoring, he ensured that various land transportation facilities have been checked and are functioning well to support public mobility during the return flow.

Teddy also stressed the importance of direct field checks, not just relying on reports, so that the government can understand the real conditions faced by the public.

According to him, such steps are crucial to ensure that any emerging obstacles can be handled quickly and appropriately by the relevant parties on the ground.

He appreciated the efforts of all parties, especially Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi, who has personally monitored the Eid transport organisation across various transport modes, ensuring optimal service to the public during the outbound and return periods.

“Of course, we do not want to rely only on reports, and he (the Transport Minister) has checked directly, seen for himself, he has gone everywhere, checked all land, sea, and air facilities directly,” said Teddy.

With this achievement, the government hopes that future Eid transport operations can continue to be improved to provide even better services for the people across Indonesia.

It is known that Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya, accompanied by Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi, monitored the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah return flow at the Integrated Pulo Gebang Bus Terminal in East Jakarta, to ensure it runs safely, orderly, and smoothly.

Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi conveyed predictions that the peak of the land transport return flow would occur on 24-25 March and increase again during 28-29 March.

According to him, the government has prepared various strategies to anticipate congestion, including the implementation of national one-way traffic engineering to aid the smoothness of the public return journey.

He also urged the public to utilise the work from anywhere (WFA) policy to plan their travels in order to ease the Eid return flow density.

“We urge them to plan their journeys well so that we can also distribute the Eid transport effectively,” said Dudy.
