Cabinet Secretary Teddy States 300 Pioneer Bridges Completed in Just 3 Months, Result of TNI-PU Collaboration
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that President Prabowo Subianto received a report from the Army Chief of Staff, Maruli Simanjuntak, regarding the achievement of constructing 300 pioneer bridges over the past three months. The report was delivered during a limited meeting at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday (16/4), which was also attended by the Minister for State Secretariat, Prasetyo Hadi, and senior officials from the Army. The Deputy Army Chief of Staff, Muhammad Saleh Mustafa, along with several other high-ranking Army officers directly involved in the construction programme, were also present at the meeting. “In these three months, the Indonesian Army has completed the construction of 300 units of pioneer suspension bridges scattered throughout Indonesia,” Teddy said when contacted in Jakarta on Friday. He explained that the acceleration of bridge construction is one of the government’s top priorities at the beginning of 2026, in line with efforts to strengthen national connectivity. President Prabowo specifically appointed Army Chief of Staff General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak as the Head of the Bridge Task Force to lead the acceleration of construction in various regions. This assignment reflects the strategic role of the Army in supporting basic infrastructure development, especially in hard-to-reach areas. The pioneer bridge programme is focused on remote regions that have previously faced transportation access limitations.
