Cabinet Secretary Teddy Says 30 Percent of Last Year's National Internship Participants Hired as Permanent Employees

The National Internship Programme (PMN) 2026 launched by the government offers participants a monthly salary ranging from Rp3.5 million to Rp6 million, depending on the local minimum wage of the district or city where they are placed. “During the internship, participants receive a salary of around Rp3.5 to Rp6 million per month, depending on the minimum wage of the district or city where they work,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya at the launch of the 2026 PMN, as quoted in a statement in Jakarta on Monday. Teddy stated that the National Internship Programme is an initiative of President Prabowo that began in 2025 through the Ministry of Manpower. The programme aims to help university graduates enter the workforce more easily and targets bachelor’s degree holders, persons with disabilities, and participants from various professions. “One of the government’s long-standing challenges is how to ensure that university graduates, especially those with a bachelor’s degree, can immediately get a job and earn a salary,” he said. In addition to earning an income, PMN participants undergo a six-month internship at partner companies and receive mentoring from senior workers to enhance their skills. “PMN participants are trained and mentored by mentors or senior workers at their companies to improve their skills. This year, we are not only recruiting bachelor’s degree holders but also professionals and our brothers and sisters with disabilities,” Teddy added. In 2026, the number of PMN participants has been increased to 150,000 from 100,000 the previous year. They will be placed in approximately 8,800 state-owned and private companies across various regions. According to Teddy, the first year of the PMN showed positive results, with around 30 percent of the 100,000 participants in 2025 being hired as permanent employees after completing their internship. Another 30 percent are still awaiting job offers within a two- to three-month period. “This means the programme truly serves as a real bridge for graduates to immediately enter the workforce and earn an income,” Teddy said.
