Cabinet Secretary Teddy Reveals Prabowo's Takbiran in North Sumatra and Eid Prayer in Aceh Tomorrow

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - President Prabowo Subianto departed for Sumatra Island today. Based on gathered information, there are two agendas that Prabowo will undertake ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriyah.

“Yes, that’s correct, the President will spend Takbiran night in North Sumatra and, God willing, will perform Eid al-Fitr prayers in Aceh tomorrow morning,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya via text message on Friday (20/3/2026).

It is known that Prabowo has also channelled aid amounting to Rp 72.75 billion in Aceh for the procurement of cattle in the Meugang tradition, which involves the distribution of beef ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.

According to a report from the Task Force for the Acceleration of Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (Satgas PRR) as of Tuesday (17/3/2026), all aid has been distributed to 19 regencies/cities in Aceh, reaching 1,455 villages spread across the affected areas.

The region with the highest number of recipient villages is North Aceh Regency with 391 villages, followed by Aceh Tamiang Regency with 210 villages, and Central Aceh Regency with 161 villages. All funds were transferred from the Presidential Secretariat to the Regional General Cash Accounts (RKUD) of the respective areas via Bank Aceh Syariah.

The aid is provided so that the people of Aceh can continue to carry out the Meugang tradition amid the post-disaster recovery process from flash floods and landslides at the end of November. In addition, the aid also serves as a symbol of the government’s solidarity with the affected communities celebrating Eid al-Fitr during the recovery period.

The distribution of these funds is a continuation of previous aid amounting to Rp 72.72 billion channelled in February 2026 for the Meugang tradition at the start of Ramadan. Thus, the total aid distributed has reached Rp 145.5 billion.
