Cabinet Secretary Teddy Reveals Prabowo's Overseas Delegation Cut by More Than Half from 120 to 50-60

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya revealed that President Prabowo Subianto’s overseas delegation size has significantly decreased compared to previous administrations. He stated the number has been cut by more than half. This was in response to suggestions from former Deputy Foreign Minister Dino Patti Djalal. ‘The delegation size is crucial. President Prabowo’s entourage has been drastically reduced—over half compared to before,’ Teddy said in a video statement posted via @sekretariat.kabinet on Monday, 1 June 2026. Teddy then compared the delegation size during Dino Patti Djalal’s tenure as Deputy Foreign Minister in 2014. At that time, presidential delegations typically comprised around 120 people. ‘Previously, delegations could exceed 120 during President Dino’s time. Now under President Prabowo, it’s capped at 50-60,’ Teddy explained. ‘This is widely known, even journalists are aware of it,’ he added. He further stressed that President Prabowo’s overseas trips are scheduled a year in advance, except for urgent cases based on domestic and international needs. Travel costs exceeding the budget are fully covered by Prabowo’s personal funds. ‘It’s a misconception to label this as mere showmanship or ceremony. We must look at what has been achieved in the past 18 months,’ Teddy concluded.
