Cabinet Secretary Teddy Reveals Prabowo's Instruction to Open Palace to Schoolchildren
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya has revealed that schools throughout Indonesia can arrange visits to the State Palace. He made this statement after receiving a visit from teachers and students of SMK 19 Jakarta at the State Palace in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (7/6/2026).
Teddy explained that these school visits represent an instruction and desire from President Prabowo Subianto to open the palace to schoolchildren as part of an educational programme for pupils.
“Today, we are opening the palace to schoolchildren, the nation’s future generations,” said Teddy.
The activities conducted today included discussions, question-and-answer sessions, introductions to rooms and buildings in the Presidential Palace Complex that form part of the nation’s history.
“We take them on a tour, introduce them to the history of the nation, explain concepts of government, then invite them to see the palace and the places where major national decisions have been made. Why? To inspire them to aspire as high as possible for this nation,” he said.
Teddy explained that the school visit programme is planned to be held at all other Presidential Palaces. It is known that there are several presidential palaces: Merdeka Palace (Jakarta), State Palace (Jakarta), Bogor Palace (West Java), Cipanas Palace (West Java), Yogyakarta Palace, Tampaksiring Palace (Bali), and Garuda Palace (IKN).
“For those outside Jakarta or outside Java island, facilitation will be provided to come here. Each school can register with the Ministry of State Secretariat and also the Cabinet Secretariat office. Register, then it will be selected. Perhaps once or twice a week, alternately coming here,” said Teddy.
“So the main point is that the President wants to open the palace to schoolchildren, and we see this example behind, they are enthusiastic. Earlier there were many, almost all of them visiting here for the first time,” he added.
