Cabinet Secretary Teddy Reveals Phenomenon of 'Analyst Inflation': Observer Says It Does Not Match Facts, Data is Erroneous
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya addressed a phenomenon he termed “analyst inflation”, referring to the proliferation of analysts offering opinions in various fields without appropriate backgrounds or factual data support.
“Nowadays, there is one phenomenon. What is it? There is something called analyst inflation. So, there are many analysts. There are rice analysts, but their background is not in that area. There are military analysts, foreign affairs analysts, and these analysts’ data does not match the facts, their data is erroneous,” said Teddy at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Friday, 10 April 2026.
According to Teddy, there are several analysts who present erroneous data that does not align with the actual conditions. He stated that this phenomenon has been ongoing since before Prabowo Subianto assumed the presidency, with the intent to influence public opinion.
“From the majority, these analysts are those who have long tried to influence citizens and shape public opinion. Even before Mr Prabowo became president,” he said.
Teddy noted that this situation is in stark contrast to the level of public trust. He conveyed that more than 96 million citizens have shown confidence in President Prabowo.
Based on the official determination of the General Elections Commission (KPU), the number of voters for the Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka pair in the 2024 Election was 96,214,691 people.
“In fact, more than 96 million citizens trust Mr Prabowo more. They do not trust them. Well, that is concrete evidence of public trust. Not an assumption,” he stated.
Furthermore, Teddy emphasised that differing views and criticism are still permitted, but he cautioned against causing anxiety among the public.
The Cabinet Secretary stated that the current national condition is stable and under control. Therefore, he invited all parties to maintain positive hopes regarding the state of the nation. “Of course, it is not yet perfect. We accept criticism, we accept input. Well, as quickly as possible we will perfect it, we will maximise it, as soon as possible,” he concluded.
