Cabinet Secretary Teddy Reveals Content of Prabowo-Macron Discussion: Focus on Energy-Economic Investment

President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto held a one-on-one meeting with the President of the Republic of France Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace in Paris on Tuesday, 14 April 2026.

The meeting was part of the series of foreign visits by President Prabowo to two major world powers, namely Russia and France, on 13–14 April 2026.

“President Prabowo Subianto departed for home after a brief two-day visit to two superpower countries, namely Russia and France, on 13–14 April 2026. Both countries are two of the five permanent members with veto power in the United Nations (UN) and possess significant strength in the fields of economy and energy resources,” said Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya in his written statement on Wednesday, 15 April 2026.

Seskab Teddy conveyed that the one-on-one meeting between the two heads of state took place in a warm and productive atmosphere for more than two hours.

“The one-on-one meeting between President Prabowo and President Emmanuel Macron lasted for more than two hours at the Élysée Palace in Paris,” said Seskab Teddy.

In the meeting, Seskab Teddy explained that the two leaders discussed strengthening strategic cooperation between Indonesia and France in various priority sectors.

The focus of the discussion included developing cooperation in the fields of energy, education, digital communications, and mutually beneficial long-term economic investments.

“The meeting discussed enhancing cooperation in various sectors, including energy, education, digital communications, and long-term economic investments,” clarified Seskab Teddy.

The strong personal relationship between President Prabowo and President Macron also serves as an important foundation in strengthening the partnership between the two countries. Seskab Teddy stated that this closeness has been established since President Prabowo served as Minister of Defence of the Republic of Indonesia and continues to this day.

“The relationship between the two leaders has been closely established since President Prabowo was still serving as Minister of Defence until now,” said Seskab Teddy.

This meeting serves as an important milestone in strengthening the strategic partnership between Indonesia and France, while also opening up broader collaboration opportunities amid the continuously evolving dynamics of global geopolitics and economy.
