President Prabowo Subianto’s economic diplomacy efforts in Washington DC went well beyond a mere state visit. Behind the official agenda, the President held strategic meetings with 12 major United States investors commanding global capital networks across multiple sectors.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya revealed that the meeting on Friday, 20 February 2026, was attended by prominent figures from the investment world who collectively manage trillions of dollars in global assets. Among them were Todd L. Boehly (CEO of Eldridge Industries, also owner of Chelsea F.C. and the Los Angeles Lakers) and Armen Panossian, CEO of Oaktree Capital and owner of Inter Milan.

Other attendees included representatives from BlackRock Founding Partners and Global Infrastructure Partners, General Atlantic, Kayne Anderson, KKR, Levine Leichtman Capital Partners, Related Fund Management, Stonepeak, Thrive Capital, Warburg Pincus, and Bernstein Equity Partners.

According to Teddy, some of these investors had previously established partnerships with Danantara Indonesia, the entity managing major state-owned enterprise assets. The meeting served as a moment for consolidation as well as the expansion of investment opportunities.

During the closed-door forum, President Prabowo affirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening a stable and competitive investment climate. He opened the door to collaboration oriented not merely towards capital inflows but also towards the creation of new economic chains and domestic job creation.

“The President opened the widest possible investment opportunities to build as many economic chains and jobs as possible that serve the national interest,” Teddy said in his statement.

The meeting was seen as a strong signal that Indonesia seeks to position itself as a new growth hub amid shifting global economic dynamics. By engaging major players in infrastructure, private equity, and asset management, the government is endeavouring to accelerate national economic transformation through long-term investment injections.

The Washington DC agenda also demonstrated a new approach to Indonesian economic diplomacy — more aggressively pursuing global capital, yet with an emphasis on domestic interests and added value at home.
