Cabinet Secretary Teddy Praised for Remaining Efficient Despite Personal Attacks
The Executive Director of the survey and consultancy firm Indonesia Political Review (IPR), Iwan Setimawan, has expressed appreciation for the attitude of Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya, who is viewed as remaining non-defensive and choosing to ignore various personal attacks on social media while remaining efficient in managing state affairs.
This impersonal communication pattern, which minimises personal drama and maximises data-based explanations, is considered a crucial foundation needed by the current administration to maintain national stability and suppress unproductive public noise. According to Iwan, in today’s digital era, state officials must be intelligent in managing and mastering communication strategies. Teddy’s approach to filtering responses has become a significant point of focus amidst the dynamics of cabinet consolidation.
“In my view, Cabinet Secretary Teddy’s non-defensive attitude, choosing to ignore personal attacks, is worthy of appreciation,” said Iwan on Tuesday (2/6).
Furthermore, Iwan outlined several fundamental competencies that should ideally be present in every public official when interacting with the community. These include subject matter expertise, the ability to position oneself appropriately according to the situation, sensitivity to public psychology, and a persuasive approach. In this regard, Teddy is deemed to meet these criteria by not using his strategic position to respond to cynicism directed at his persona.
“Teddy does not use his privilege as Cabinet Secretary, and everyone knows that Teddy is the one closest to the President. In fact, I often state that Teddy is one of the officials who serves as a mainstay for the President,” he revealed.
In contrast to his calm demeanour in the face of personal attacks, Teddy is noted for demonstrating high performance and discipline when faced with institutional duties. Iwan observed that the Cabinet Secretary’s work rhythm is highly dynamic in resolving state matters.
“However, regarding his duties and responsibilities as Cabinet Secretary in state affairs, he is the most agile and efficient. If we observe his social media activity, Teddy seems to know no fatigue, working from dawn until dawn,” Iwan explained.
Concluding his remarks, Iwan reaffirmed that the choice to work quietly, avoiding personal drama while remaining firm on the substance of state data, is a key factor in minimising polarisation.
“Indeed, impersonal communication that minimises personal drama and maximises data-based explanations is the foundation required by the current government to maintain national stability, suppress unproductive public noise, and prevent potential national division,” he concluded.
