Cabinet Secretary Teddy Praised for Consistently Communicating Prabowo's Vision to the Public
Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya has been praised for his appropriate articulation of President Prabowo Subianto’s policy direction and governmental vision. The administration has emphasised that it welcomes criticism and is not opposed to it.
Teddy’s role has become increasingly prominent, as he stands at the forefront whilst many others choose to exercise caution or distance themselves from policy controversies.
According to Igor Dirgantara, a political communication observer and Executive Director of Survey and Polling Indonesia (SPIN), his approach demonstrates both courage and consistency in fulfilling the Cabinet Secretary’s function as a bridge between the President and the public.
“Essentially, the Cabinet Secretary is able to perform his role as a mediator of the President’s policies to society. And this is appreciated by the public,” Dirgantara stated on Monday, 9 March 2026.
Seskab Teddy is frequently seen appearing when various criticisms emerge, such as regarding government policies in the Free Nutritious Meals programme (MBG). He provides explanations to the public with finesse, and according to Igor, his approach represents courage in remaining visible in public discourse whilst the government faces criticism.
“Amid the dynamics of criticism towards government policy, the Cabinet Secretary’s presence in directly explaining the President’s perspective helps the public understand the complete purpose of the policy,” he said.
According to him, Teddy’s public communication is not merely about defending government administration. Rather, it is about ensuring that the President’s broader vision is not distorted by various narratives circulating in public discourse.
Additionally, Teddy directly understands the policy direction and priorities of the President, making his explanations an important reference point for understanding the government’s official position.
“This role is important so that society gains a complete picture regarding the purpose of policies adopted by the President,” he stated.
He noted that Teddy’s presence as a consistent figure explaining the President’s vision represents an important need in modern governance. Not all officials are willing to take on a communication role amid the pressure of public criticism, yet Teddy has done so.
“In the context of political communication, the presence of a figure capable of directly explaining the President’s vision is indeed an important requirement,” he said.
The Cabinet Secretary’s involvement in providing policy explanations, according to Igor, can be viewed as part of efforts to strengthen governmental transparency. Igor believes that active communication reflects that the Cabinet Secretary not only performs administrative governmental functions, but plays a strategic role in ensuring that the President’s message and vision are conveyed clearly to society.
