Cabinet Secretary Teddy: Prabowo Personally Covers Additional Foreign Travel Costs

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that any additional costs for President Prabowo Subianto’s foreign travels are personally covered by the President, clarifying various funding-related issues. He responded to and expressed appreciation for concerns raised by former Deputy Foreign Minister Dino Patti Djalal regarding the presidential trips. ‘Overseas costs have been explained multiple times. Any additional expenses beyond the government’s allocated budget are fully covered personally by President Prabowo,’ he said, addressing Dino’s social media video highlighting the high costs of foreign trips. Teddy also noted that the delegation size has been reduced from over 120 members in previous administrations to a maximum of 50 to 60 under President Prabowo. ‘Previously, delegations could exceed 120 during Dino’s time. Now, under President Prabowo, it’s capped at 50 to 60 people,’ he added. The Cabinet Secretary explained that presidential visits aim to build strong international relationships, which is vital amid global dynamics such as the Ukraine conflict and Middle East crises. Benefits include stable fuel reserves, maintained subsidised fuel prices, and food security. He also highlighted the Indonesia-EU Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA), set to take effect in 2027, which will impose zero tariffs on key Indonesian exports.
