Cabinet Secretary Teddy Meets Social Affairs Minister to Discuss Education Plan for 1,000 Underprivileged and Street Children
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya met Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) on Saturday, 30 May 2026, to discuss several Social Affairs Ministry programmes. The official statement read: “Upon returning to the country, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya received Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf, commonly known as Gus Ipul, on Saturday, 30 May 2026.” It added: “Following the meeting, the Social Affairs Minister is scheduled to proceed directly to Ende Regency in East Nusa Tenggara for his next work agenda.”
During the meeting, Teddy and Gus Ipul discussed the launch of the People’s School for the new academic year starting in July 2026. “The programme aims to provide access to education, accommodation, healthcare, and decent living for over 45,000 children from disadvantaged families, school dropouts, and those who have never received formal education,” the statement said. They also discussed plans to educate 1,000 underprivileged children, including those not in school and street children, through the People’s School. “President Prabowo wishes for all Indonesian children to have equal educational opportunities with proper facilities and comfort, providing each child with the chance and tools to secure a better and more prosperous future,” the statement concluded.
