Jakarta – The presence of Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya at the People’s Bazaar has garnered positive responses from the wider public. The event is seen not only as providing economic benefits but also as strengthening the relationship between the government and the people.
Social observer Agus Widjajanto views Cabinet Secretary Teddy’s direct involvement in the field as the right approach to building more effective and humane public communication.
“The People’s Bazaar is not merely a ceremonial activity, but a space for direct interaction between the government and society. The positive response that emerges shows that the government’s presence is truly felt,” said Agus.
According to him, Teddy’s figure as Cabinet Secretary holds a strategic position as a communication bridge between President Prabowo Subianto and the public. This role is considered increasingly important amid the public’s need for transparent and easily understandable information.
“In this context, Teddy’s presence is very appropriate. He not only represents the government structurally but also serves as a direct communication bridge from President Prabowo to the people,” he explained.
Agus also highlighted that activities like the People’s Bazaar can create emotional closeness between the government and society. Direct interaction in the field is seen as effective in building public trust in government policies, which some parties have criticised for communication blockages leading to misunderstandings about government programmes—this serves as a response to such criticism.
Additionally, the involvement of UMKM actors in the bazaar provides tangible impacts on the circulation of the people’s economy. The government is deemed able to directly observe real field conditions as material for future policy evaluation.
“This is important because good policies must be based on societal realities. By going directly to the field, the government can absorb aspirations while ensuring programmes run on target,” added Agus.
Political observer and Executive Director of Aljabar Strategic Indonesia, Arifki Chaniago, views the step as appropriate in addressing the public’s need for openness in information from the government.
“I think Cabinet Secretary Teddy’s step is positive because society needs explanations from what is done by the government. If it receives a good response from society, it means that communication role is suitable for Cabinet Secretary Teddy,” said Arifki.
