Jakarta, VIVA – Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya has affirmed that Indonesia is in good shape. He stated that he has received information regarding wild rumours about Indonesia facing chaos in the near future.

“I want to clarify some issues. There was a question earlier, so some time ago there was an issue claiming that Indonesia would face chaos soon. That is a mistaken narrative. There is no chaos; everything is under control,” said Teddy to reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex on Friday, 10 April 2026.

He explained that various countries have been affected by the war in the Middle East, such as increases in fuel oil (BBM) prices. However, President Prabowo Subianto has decided not to raise BBM prices in Indonesia.

“In the midst of global conflicts and the impact from the Middle East war, many countries have raised BBM prices and faced fuel shortages, but President Prabowo has decided not to increase subsidised BBM prices at all. That is a fact. You can see it yourself in neighbouring countries and those around us,” said Teddy.

Furthermore, he continued, the government has stated that Indonesia’s economy is in good condition and the public’s purchasing power is maintained.

In fact, all essential goods prices in Indonesia remained stable during the Eid period.

“Then, secondly, economic data from credible sources shows we are heading towards optimism. The public’s purchasing power is maintained. And most importantly, this is the most tangible: under Mr Prabowo’s administration, we have already experienced two Eids. And the fact, the proof, is that in those two instances, we experienced it together—everything was stable,” he said.

Moreover, the mudik flow and return flow during Eid were also relatively smooth. He reaffirmed the Indonesian government’s commitment to providing the best for the people.

“Essential goods and basic needs are available. Prices are stable, BBM is available, and mudik flow is smooth. That is the fact, the data available on the ground. Everything is measurable here. So, the public should not worry,” he concluded.
