Cabinet Secretary Teddy Criticises Commentators for Inaccurate Facts: Do Not Cause Anxiety About This Country
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya has criticised commentators who frequently present data to the public that does not align with facts. He stated that Indonesia has reached an “inflation of commentators.” He gave an example of a commentator on military and foreign affairs who lacks a background in those fields. “Currently, there is one phenomenon. What is it? There is something called the inflation of commentators. So, there are many commentators. There are rice commentators, but their background is not in that area. There are military commentators, foreign affairs commentators. And these commentators’ data is not in line with facts, their data is incorrect,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy to reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, on Friday, 10 April 2026. He added that these commentators have been attempting to influence the public by shaping opinions. Even before Prabowo Subianto took office as President of the Republic of Indonesia. “From the majority, these commentators are those who have long tried to influence citizens and shape public opinion. Even before Mr Prabowo became president. So these commentators have influenced citizens,” said Teddy. “But what is the fact? The fact is, more than 96 million citizens trust Mr Prabowo more. They do not trust them. That is real evidence of public trust. Not some assumption,” he continued. However, Teddy reminded commentators not to make statements that lead to anxiety about Indonesia. He allowed commentators to voice criticism, but it must be based on facts and field data. “So, I think it’s fine to have different views, different opinions, please give criticism. But do not make statements that lead to anxiety. Making people anxious about this country. Everything is stable, everything is under control. And let us all work together to achieve the best moving forward,” he said. He hopes that all citizens can pray for the good of the Motherland. Do not, he said, let there be parties trying to encourage others to pray for bad things for Indonesia. He affirmed that the Indonesian government accepts various criticisms from all elements of society to serve as material for evaluation to become even better in the future.
