Cabinet Secretary Teddy Comments on Rumours of President Prabowo's Cabinet Reshuffle
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya has spoken out on the possibility of a cabinet reshuffle in the near future. He asked the media to be patient regarding the matter.
“Just wait,” said Teddy at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, on Tuesday (7/4/2026).
According to Teddy, a reshuffle is the prerogative of President Prabowo Subianto. Therefore, he asked journalists to wait until the president makes a decision.
Rumours of a potential reshuffle have emerged in recent times. This is inseparable from the uncertain geopolitical and economic conditions amid conflicts involving the United States, Israel, Iran, and Gulf countries.
Political Communication Observer from Esa Unggul University, M Jamiluddin Ritonga, stated that ministers, as policymakers, must have the ability to solve problems and act systematically.
“In the midst of global uncertainty, Prabowo Subianto’s cabinet cannot merely carry out routine tasks. Ministers who only perform routines will be trapped in various emerging issues,” Jamiluddin told reporters on Tuesday (31/3/2026).
He suggested that ministers who are weak in problem-solving should be replaced. Jamiluddin does not want such ministers to become a burden to the cabinet.
“So, in this energy crisis, Prabowo should evaluate his ministers. Ministers who are weak in problem-solving should be reshuffled. Because ministers like this only become a burden to Prabowo,” he added, as reported by detik.com.
Deputy General Chairman of the Golkar Party, Ahmad Doli Kurnia, responded to the expert’s urging that it is time for President Prabowo Subianto to carry out a ministerial replacement or reshuffle in the Merah Putih Cabinet amid uncertain geopolitical conditions. Doli said that only Prabowo knows best when to overhaul his cabinet.
“First of all, if asked again, the answer would definitely be standard. A cabinet reshuffle is an absolute authority or what is it, the prerogative privilege of Mr President, Mr Prabowo, right. Of course, he is the one who can best assess it,” he said at the parliamentary complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Monday (6/4/2026).
