Cabinet Secretary Teddy Claims UAE Ready to Increase Investment in Indonesia
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya has stated that the United Arab Emirates is prepared to increase investment in Indonesia. Teddy made this announcement following a bilateral meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held at Qasr Al Bahr Palace in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, 26 February 2026.
“The meeting discussed cooperation on increasing investment. The bilateral relationship is being elevated. The UAE wants to increase its investment in Indonesia,” said Teddy, who accompanied Prabowo in the meeting, in a written statement on Friday, 27 February 2026.
Teddy stated that the UAE views Indonesia as a key strategic partner in Southeast Asia, particularly in the fields of energy, infrastructure, and future economic development. The Indonesian Government views its bilateral relationship with the UAE as having progressed closely and to mutual benefit.
President Prabowo, according to Teddy, welcomed the UAE’s investment commitment and affirmed Indonesia’s readiness to continue strengthening a conducive investment climate. The Indonesian Government, he added, is opening broader collaboration space for UAE investors across various national priority sectors.
The meeting between Prabowo and President Al Nahyan marked the Indonesia-UAE diplomatic relationship, which has been established for exactly 50 years since 1976. According to Teddy, the two nations are now entering a new phase with a focus on investment, economic growth, and partnership in the future.
During this meeting in Ramadan, the bilateral forum began with an informal conversation whilst waiting for iftar time and Maghreb prayer. Dialogue then continued in an expanded meeting format. “To discuss several strategic agendas, ranging from strengthening energy cooperation and investment to future economic partnerships,” according to the Presidential Secretariat’s statement.
As a conclusion, President Prabowo and President Al Nahyan held a tête-à-tête meeting. The occasion also reflected both nations’ intention to strengthen the diplomatic relationship established exactly 50 years ago since 1976.
President Prabowo was accompanied by several officials in this bilateral meeting. Those present included Foreign Minister Sugiono, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Indonesian Ambassador to the UAE Judha Nugraha, and PT Pindad (Persero) Chief Executive Officer Sigit P. Santosa.
Meanwhile, President Al Nahyan was accompanied by Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court Hamdan bin Mohamed Al Nahyan, Presidential Court Adviser Mohamed bin Hamad Al Nahyan, Strategic Affairs Adviser Ahmed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Al Mazrouei, and UAE Ambassador to Indonesia Abdulla Salem Obaid Salem Al Dhaheri.
