Cabinet Secretary Teddy buys 35 sacrificial cows from Boyolali farmers averaging one ton each
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya purchased 35 sacrificial cows from Boyolali farmers in Central Java for Eid al-Adha 1447 AH as part of efforts to support small-scale livestock businesses. In an Instagram post viewed in Jakarta on Wednesday, farmers said they were assisted by the purchase of cows averaging one ton in weight. ‘From morning to evening and now night, we are ready to deliver the 35 cows ordered by the Cabinet Secretary. Their average weight is one ton,’ according to a video clip from Instagram account @utikanggra. A Boyolali farmer said he initially received information that Teddy needed sacrificial cows for Eid al-Adha. He said he was surprised when his own cows were purchased, and then offered cows from other local breeders in the area. He added that the purchase has helped small-scale farmers in the village boost their economy. ‘As local farmers, we are greatly helped by this programme,’ said one farmer in the post. The sacrificial cows will be distributed by staff to those in need. The move is described as supporting local farmers while extending the benefits of the sacrifice to the wider community.
