The isbat session held by the Ministry of Religious Affairs determined that Eid al-Fitr, 1 Syawal 1447 Hijriah, falls on Saturday, 21 March 2026. This decision was made following the results of rukyatul hilal or crescent moon observation conducted by the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ Hisab Rukyat Team across Indonesia. The crescent height did not meet the criteria set by the Ministers of Religious Affairs from Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore (MABIMS). Meanwhile, Muslims from the Muhammadiyah community celebrated Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah a day earlier today (20 March). A meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and Indonesia’s fifth President Megawati Soekarnoputri today (20 March) is seen as refuting speculations of a rift in their relationship that had circulated publicly. The meeting, which discussed unity and national spirit, aimed to strengthen relations ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1 Syawal 1447 Hijriah. President Prabowo Subianto received a visit from Megawati Soekarnoputri at Merdeka Palace on (19 March). This warm meeting addressed strategic issues and fostered camaraderie among national figures.
