Cabinet Secretary Reveals Outcomes of Prabowo-MBZ Meeting: UAE Ready to Increase Investment in Indonesia
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that after the joint iftar, President Prabowo Subianto and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ) held a bilateral meeting. The meeting discussed several strategic agendas.
Teddy mentioned that the main point discussed was strengthening cooperation in the economic sector. The UAE also intends to increase investment in Indonesia.
“This meeting reaffirms the commitment of both countries to deepen mutually beneficial and long-term oriented collaboration,” said Teddy, in a statement on the Cabinet Secretariat’s Instagram account, Friday (27/2/2026).
This meeting between the two state leaders was then continued in a tête-à-tête for more than 1 hour. Teddy revealed that this meeting was a moment to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Indonesia’s diplomatic relations with the UAE. It is hoped that this meeting will mark a new chapter of strategic cooperation between the two countries, which will be broader and more extensive.
“This meeting between the two Presidents is particularly meaningful because 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of Indonesia’s diplomatic relations with the UAE. This half-century of partnership serves as a solid foundation for both countries to open a new chapter of strategic cooperation that is broader, deeper, and has a greater impact on the welfare of the people of both nations,” said Teddy.
It is known that this bilateral meeting began with a joint iftar. Prabowo sat together with President MBZ and 6 other UAE leaders at Qasr Al Bahr, Abu Dhabi. This moment also served as a welcome for Prabowo’s visit.
This joint iftar moment was uploaded on the Cabinet Secretariat’s Instagram and Prabowo’s account on Friday (27/2/2026) early in the morning. Prabowo was welcomed by President MBZ in an area that also served as a place for breaking the fast. In that area, several sofas and tables were arranged in a circular formation.
Prabowo sat next to President MBZ in the middle. The other UAE leaders were also present, sitting facing the two state leaders. They included the Emir of Dubai, who is also the Prime Minister of the UAE, as well as the Emirs of Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah.
For your information, the meeting of the 7 UAE leaders, including President MBZ, is only held once a year. The series of meetings was continued with a joint iftar which took place in a solemn and harmonious atmosphere.
