Cabinet Secretary Reveals Details of Prabowo's Meeting with Health Minister Budi Gunadi at the Palace

During a meeting at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta yesterday, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin reported on the development of the Quick Wins Programme (PHTC) and other flagship health initiatives to President Prabowo Subianto. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that the first PHTC, the Free Health Check-up (CKG) programme, had provided examinations to over 70 million people in 2025, and has already reached more than 42.3 million participants across 38 provinces this year. “Not stopping at early detection, the CKG programme is prioritising treatment and healing efforts by community health centre officers this year, providing free medication and monitoring to people suffering from hypertension and diabetes,” Teddy said in a statement on Wednesday (10/6/2026). Teddy added that the second PHTC covers tuberculosis (TBC) mitigation. Since its launch last year, the programme has successfully reduced the estimated number of TBC cases to 1.08 million this year, down from 10.9 million, driven by more aggressive case detection within the community. “The more cases that are detected, the easier and faster they are to treat. This year’s tuberculosis mitigation innovation consists of integrating detection with the CKG, a one-stop service (OSS) where screening, diagnosis, and treatment for TBC are carried out at a single community health centre on the same day,” he continued. The third PHTC concerns improving service quality at 66 regional public hospitals in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost areas, upgrading them from class D to class C with more comprehensive services. In 2025, 20 out of 22 hospitals had been completed, with 10 already operational. “In 2026, 14 out of 20 have begun construction, and in 2027, 24 more hospitals are still in the planning stage,” Teddy added. Beyond the PHTC, Minister Budi also reported on other flagship programmes, including the distribution of 905 key medical devices to 258 districts and cities nationwide. “The main devices consist of Cathlabs, CT scanners, mammography machines, MRIs and Linacs,” Teddy stated. The completed construction of the Jayapura Central General Hospital in Papua, ready to be inaugurated by President Prabowo, was also reported. The hospital is expected to serve as a hub not only for eastern Indonesia but also for the Pacific and Oceania regions. Furthermore, Budi reported that the development of a central general hospital in Riau has reached 85 percent completion and is targeted for inauguration in December 2026. The hospital is hoped to reduce the number of residents from Riau and surrounding areas seeking medical treatment abroad. “For future plans, the Health Minister also reported on efforts to revitalise regional public hospitals in 514 districts/cities along with their governance, and a programme to revitalise 10,000 community health centres, auxiliary health centres, and public health laboratories across all sub-districts and wards,” Teddy concluded.
