Cabinet Secretary Receives Report from Youth and Sports Minister on Deregulation of 191 Rules into Four

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya received a report from Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir at the Cabinet Secretariat Office in Jakarta on Monday, regarding the achievements in deregulating 191 regulations related to youth and sports, now reduced to just four. “A total of 191 Permenpora have been simplified into just four. Through the omnibus method, around 60 percent of the provisions have also been cut, from 1,500 articles to 600 articles,” stated the caption on the official Instagram account of catatanseskab, quoted in Jakarta on Monday. This regulatory simplification represents a strategic step by the ministry to reduce bureaucracy that has previously been considered overlapping. The 191 Regulations of the Minister of Youth and Sports (Permenpora) have now been streamlined into just four main regulations. “In line with the directives of President Prabowo Subianto, this step is part of bureaucratic reform so that regulations no longer overlap,” according to the caption in the post. The four pillars of the new unified regulations now cover the fields of youth services, sports cultivation, and achievement development. In addition, rules regarding the sports industry are also included in the simplified legal framework. Besides the bureaucratic aspect, this simplification of rules is targeted to encourage improvements in national athletes’ achievements in various events. The concise legal framework is believed to accelerate decision-making processes and support for athletes. Furthermore, the regulatory reform is projected to spur growth in Indonesia’s sports industry with rules that are more conducive to collaboration, enabling greater economic contributions to the country.
