Cabinet Secretary Provides Details on Recruitment Process for Red and White Village Cooperative Managers

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya has explained the recruitment process for managers of Kopdes (Village Cooperatives) Merah Putih. The cooperatives require 30,000 managers across Indonesia. Teddy stated that the recruitment process aims to manage the Kopdes units. Once applicants pass the registration stage, they will participate in two months of managerial and cooperative training. Upon completing the training, prospective Kopdes managers are expected to apply the knowledge gained to operate Kopdes Merah Putih. Teddy explained that the Kopdes Merah Putih programme will absorb 800,000 workers. “If one cooperative consists of one manager and at least 10 workers per cooperative, then there will be at least 800,000 new workers in the 80,000 Red and White Village Cooperatives planned to be built gradually,” Teddy clarified, quoted from the official Instagram account @sekretariat.kabinet on Tuesday (21/4/2026). “With these village cooperatives, it is hoped that economic circulation in each village will accelerate, without intermediaries and directed with selling prices that benefit the local villagers,” Teddy added. Although the salary amount for Kopdes Merah Putih managers is still being discussed, the scheme follows the Fixed-Term Employment Agreement (PKWT). “PKWT has its regulations.
