Jakarta (ANTARA) — Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said President Prabowo Subianto's working visit to the United States is focused on discussing strategic cooperation across various economic sectors.

He stated that President Prabowo arrived in the United States on Tuesday (17 February) local time. The Garuda Indonesia-1 aircraft carrying the President and his entourage landed at Andrews Military Base, Washington DC, United States.

"The meetings are focused on discussing strategic cooperation across various economic sectors, including several trade negotiations and agreements," Teddy said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Teddy conveyed that President Prabowo's arrival was greeted by hundreds of Indonesian diaspora members comprising students, workers and Indonesian citizens residing in Washington DC and its surroundings.

President Prabowo was scheduled to proceed directly to meetings on the evening of his arrival local time, as well as several meetings with the US Government and American business leaders.

The visit forms part of President Prabowo's active direct diplomacy efforts to strengthen economic supply chains and domestic industrial productivity.

Among those accompanying President Prabowo on the flight to the US were Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

President Prabowo is scheduled to attend three key engagements: a meeting with a group of American business leaders on Wednesday (18 February), the inaugural summit of the Gaza Board of Peace (BoP) on Thursday (19 February), and a bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump to sign, among other things, an agreement on reciprocal trade (ART), negotiations for which have been ongoing since 2025.

Regarding the BoP agenda, the inaugural summit will be chaired directly by US President Donald Trump Jr. as its initiator.

Indonesia officially became a member of the BoP after President Prabowo Subianto co-signed the organisation's founding charter at its launch event in Davos, Switzerland on 22 January 2026.

Besides Indonesia, other countries that signed the Board of Peace charter include the United States as the initiator, followed by Hungary, Bahrain, Morocco, Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Egypt, Jordan, Kazakhstan, the Republic of Kosovo, Mongolia, Pakistan, Paraguay, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Uzbekistan.
