Cabinet Secretary: President spontaneously inspects Senen railway embankment
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya accompanied President Prabowo Subianto on a direct inspection of residents’ settlements along the railway embankment in the Senen area, Jakarta, on Thursday afternoon.
When contacted in Jakarta on Thursday evening, Teddy stated that the visit took place spontaneously.
The President reportedly suddenly wished to see firsthand the conditions of the community still living along the railway tracks, which are located just under three kilometres from central Jakarta.
“Yes, that’s correct, this afternoon the President suddenly decided to see the residents still living along the railway tracks in the Senen area,” Teddy said.
According to Teddy, the President initially planned a simple visit. He even intended to go incognito, using an ordinary car, wearing a cap, and accompanied by a very limited number of Presidential Security Forces (Paspampres).
Although conducted on short notice, the President’s arrival still drew the attention of residents. The community appeared surprised yet enthusiastic in welcoming the presence of Indonesia’s number one official.
Teddy conveyed that the President listened to various aspirations regarding the housing conditions located very close to the active rail line. Several residents admitted it was the first time their area had been visited directly by a president.
“Many residents were surprised earlier and said this was the first time a President had come to that area,” Teddy remarked.
Teddy also mentioned that the President expressed his commitment to the residents along the Senen railway embankment to provide more decent housing. The government will strive to build safe and comfortable residences for the residents in that area.
