Jakarta (ANTARA) - Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to the southern Leato coast in Gorontalo City, Gorontalo Province, on Saturday, was to ensure that the state is present in prospering fishermen throughout Indonesia. In a statement in Jakarta on Saturday, Teddy said President Prabowo flew directly to Gorontalo City after visiting Miangas Island in the Talaud Islands Regency, North Sulawesi. According to Teddy, President Prabowo directly witnessed the changes in the lives of coastal communities and fishermen following the establishment of the Red and White Fishermen’s Village (KNMP). “In an area that was previously synonymous with limited fishing facilities, the Red and White Fishermen’s Village now stands as a commitment from the state to bring prosperity to coastal communities and fishermen across the country,” said Teddy. On this occasion, the President inspected the sorting shelter port to fish packing facilities. Teddy mentioned that the Red and White Fishermen’s Village is equipped with various supporting facilities, including a management office, fishermen’s workshop, meeting hall, supply kiosks, cool box shelter, ice factory, frozen fish warehouse, boat docking, fish landing shelter, and net repair area. With adequate facilities and infrastructure in the fishermen’s village, said Teddy, it is hoped that the productivity of coastal communities can be maintained, thereby increasing their welfare. “The President hopes that with the strengthening of infrastructure and ongoing support, the welfare of coastal communities continues to improve, and Indonesian fishermen become more empowered in their own seas,” said Teddy.
