Cabinet Secretary: Prabowo's France Visit Subject to Multiple Reschedulings

President Prabowo Subianto arrived at Orly Airport in Paris, France, on Tuesday (26/5) at around 10:00 local time. The Head of State’s arrival after a 16-hour flight marked the start of the official state visit to France.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya explained that the visit was highly anticipated. “This arrival marks the commencement of President Prabowo’s state visit to France, which had been scheduled since last year but underwent multiple reschedulings,” he stated in an official release.

At the aircraft stairs, President Prabowo was greeted by France’s Minister of Labour and Solidarity, Jean-Pierre Farandou, along with an honour guard. In addition to the formal state welcome, hundreds of Indonesians had been waiting at the hotel where the President was staying since the morning.

The visit is projected to strengthen bilateral relations as both nations explore collaborations in critical sectors. Teddy described the relationship as complementary within the global geopolitical landscape.

“Indonesia currently has numerous super-strategic partnerships with France. This state visit is expected to further bolster Indonesia’s position in Europe,” Teddy added, noting that Indonesia serves as a primary gateway for Europe-Asia relations, while France is a key entry point for Southeast Asia into Europe.

Prior to official state engagements with French authorities, President Prabowo is scheduled to undertake religious and social activities with the Indonesian community in Paris. “President Prabowo will perform Eid al-Adha prayers and meet with Indonesians at the Indonesian Embassy residence in Paris,” Teddy concluded.

The visit is anticipated not only to strengthen diplomatic ties but also to deliver tangible economic benefits and bolster the Rupiah’s position in global currency markets through strategic investment agreements to be discussed in France.
