Cabinet Secretary: Prabowo the Only President to Hold Bilateral Talks with Trump on Sidelines of BoP
President Prabowo Subianto and United States President Donald Trump have officially signed a trade tariff agreement. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that the two leaders were the only ones to conduct a bilateral agreement amid the Board of Peace (BoP) agenda.
"The President held bilateral talks with President Donald Trump. Yesterday there were more than 15 heads of state and government present," Teddy said during a press conference broadcast on the Cabinet Secretariat's YouTube channel on Friday evening (20/2/2026).
Teddy explained that Prabowo was the only president to hold a bilateral meeting specifically discussing trade tariffs. He disclosed that following the signing of the agreement, both leaders continued their discussions in a closed-door meeting.
"The only head of state to hold bilateral talks with President Trump — one of them, and the only one — was President Prabowo," Teddy said.
"President Prabowo and President Trump then held a meeting lasting approximately 30 minutes," he continued.
During the closed-door session, the two leaders discussed various strategic issues. Teddy expressed hope that positive developments regarding trade tariffs would emerge from the meeting.
"There were naturally many discussions there, and we shall wait. Perhaps in the near future, the current 19 per cent rate may improve further for Indonesia. We shall just have to wait and see," he said.
