Cabinet Secretary: Prabowo requests Babinsa to educate citizens on forest fire dangers
The Cabinet Secretary, Teddy Indra Wijaya, stated that President Prabowo Subianto has requested TNI soldiers, particularly the Village Supervisory Officers (Babinsa), to participate in educating the public regarding the dangers of forest and land fires (karhutla).
Teddy conveyed that this matter became a priority for President Prabowo during a meeting with the Commander of the TNI and the Chiefs of the Armed Forces, the Minister of Defence, the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, and the State Secretary Minister, held at his residence in Hambalang, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Saturday evening.
“The President wants education regarding the dangers of forest burning to be provided by Babinsa in villages to residents, so that we can collectively protect our forests and lands,” Teddy said, as reported by the Cabinet Secretariat in Jakarta on Sunday.
According to Teddy, President Prabowo intends for the education concerning the dangers of forest fires to be delivered directly to communities at the village level through the Babinsa.
In addition to forest fires, the meeting also discussed the progress of handling several disasters, including the aftermath of the earthquake in Flores and the eruption of Mount Merapi.
President Prabowo also requested an update regarding the adjustment of recruitment requirements for members of the inland Dayak tribes who wish to join the TNI.
