Cabinet Secretary Pays Tribute to Former Vice President Try Sutrisno's Lifelong Service to Nation
Jakarta — Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya paid tribute to the late Vice President Try Sutrisno as a soldier and statesman who dedicated his entire life to serving the nation and state.
“Indonesia has lost one of its finest sons, the 6th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, General (Retired) Try Sutrisno. The late was both a soldier and statesman who throughout his life dedicated himself to serving the nation and state,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy when contacted in Jakarta on Monday afternoon.
In the same context, Teddy further noted that the late was known as a leader firmly upheld the principles of discipline, simplicity, and high loyalty to the Indonesian state.
“Today, 2 March 2026, President Prabowo Subianto led the funeral ceremony of the late Try Sutrisno, the 6th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia at the National Heroes Cemetery (TMPNU) Kalibata, Jakarta. The late passed away at the age of 90 at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto Military Hospital, on the same day, at 06:58 WIB,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy.
The military funeral ceremony of Try Sutrisno was attended by several dignitaries, including 6th President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, 11th Vice President Boediono, and several ministers from the Merah Putih Cabinet.
Behind President Prabowo, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka participated in the entire ceremony proceedings. Also present were TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, Army Chief of Staff General Maruli Simanjuntak, Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali, Air Force Chief of Staff Air Marshal M. Tonny Harjono, Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, and Coordinator Minister for Politics and Security Djamari Chaniago, who all stood near the presidential podium.
During the ceremony proceedings, President Prabowo read the persada roll call for the late Try Sutrisno: “I, President of the Republic of Indonesia, on behalf of the state, nation, and Indonesian National Armed Forces, hereby present to the earth goddess, the soul and services of the late. Name: Try Sutrisno; Position: 6th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Term 1993-1998, Commander of the Armed Forces (ABRI) Term 1988-1993. Son of the late Subandi, who has passed away in the interests and honour of the state and nation on Monday, 2 March 2026, at 06:58 WIB in Jakarta.”
“May the path of service he undertook serve as an example for us all, and may his soul find the best place beside Almighty God. Jakarta, 2 March 2026, President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto,” stated the persada roll call read by President Prabowo.
