Cabinet Secretary: Only President Prabowo Held Direct Bilateral Meeting with Trump
Jakarta (ANTARA) — Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that President Prabowo Subianto was the only head of state to hold a bilateral meeting with United States President Donald Trump during the Board of Peace agenda in Washington DC on Thursday (19 February).
“Yesterday there were more than 15 heads of state and government present. The only head of state who held a bilateral meeting with President Trump was President Prabowo,” Teddy said at the Four Seasons Hotel in Washington DC on Friday.
The Cabinet Secretary explained that a trade agreement between Indonesia and the United States was signed during the bilateral meeting. Under the agreement, he said, a reciprocal tariff of 19 per cent was agreed for Indonesian import products.
“I want to remind everyone that the agreement is indeed at 19 per cent. Last year it was 32 per cent, now reduced to 19 per cent,” he said.
In addition, he continued, there is a zero per cent tariff for 1,819 priority national products in the agricultural and industrial sectors, including coffee, cocoa, palm oil, and semiconductors.
Following the signing of the agreement, President Prabowo and President Trump continued their meeting for approximately 30 minutes, covering a range of other discussions.
The Cabinet Secretary said that further developments regarding the agreement would be expected in the near future.
