Cabinet Secretary Meets Labour Minister to Discuss Internship Programme and Vocational Training for SMK Graduates
JAKARTA - Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya received a visit from the Minister of Manpower, Yassierli, at the Cabinet Secretariat Office in Jakarta on Saturday afternoon (25/4/2026). The meeting at the end of the week was held to discuss several strategic government plans in the employment sector. “Including the National Internship Programme 2025–2026, which is currently being followed by 100,000 internship participants, with the initial number of registrants reaching around 400,000 people,” wrote Teddy on the Instagram account @sekretariat.kabinet. According to him, with the opportunity for work experience, gaining knowledge from mentors, and receiving a monthly wage in accordance with the regional minimum wage from the central government, this can provide greater encouragement for university graduates to register. “For the 2026–2027 period, the government plans to increase the quota as well as improve the quality and skills of internship participants,” said Teddy. In the same meeting, several plans related to training programmes were also discussed. Teddy mentioned that the training is intended for children who are SMK graduates, factory workers, and domestic workers (PRT). “The Ministry of Manpower is also continuing to implement various programmes to enhance workers’ skills and welfare, especially for labourers, outsourced workers, and domestic workers,” he added.
