Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya inspected the construction of temporary housing, or huntara, for residents along the railway tracks in the Pasar Senen area. Teddy ensured that the construction is progressing rapidly.

Teddy was accompanied by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (PT KAI) President Director Bobby Rasyidin during the inspection on Saturday morning (25/4/2026). The new housing site is located about 500 metres from the Pasar Senen railway tracks.

“In line with President Prabowo’s instructions, the government is building decent and comfortable housing for residents who have long lived right next to the railway tracks, particularly in the Pasar Senen area, just 2 km from the capital’s centre. For decades, many residents have lived along the railway tracks without proper roofing, lacking clean water facilities and sanitation,” Teddy stated, as seen on his Instagram account.

According to Teddy, the rapid construction is due to collaboration between the Ministry of Housing and several state-owned enterprises. In the future, similar slum improvements will be carried out gradually in other locations.

“The construction is being carried out quickly thanks to close cooperation between the Ministry of Housing and related state-owned enterprises. Settlement improvements to make them more decent will also be done in other places gradually and periodically,” he said.

From the photos, rows of huntara units are already standing with complete facilities inside, such as beds and wardrobes. In addition to housing, various facilities are also nearing completion, including places of worship, sanitation, clean water, and children’s play areas.

It is known that President Prabowo made a surprise visit to the Pasar Senen railway trackside area on Thursday (26/3). During the visit, Prabowo listened to residents’ aspirations and promised decent housing.

After the visit, Prabowo held a limited meeting to discuss the construction of decent housing. He ordered several ministers and PT KAI leaders to build decent housing for residents living along the Senen railway tracks.

On Friday (27/3), the team moved to prepare the construction process for the new housing, located not far from the original residents’ area.

“According to the residents’ statements, they have lived along the tracks for decades with limited housing and roofing. President wants these residents to be provided with proper housing and sanitation as soon as possible,” Teddy explained.

The government is building 324 huntara units to relocate residents living along the Senen railway tracks in Central Jakarta. Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait (Ara) ensured that the housing considers decency and comfort for the community. The housing already includes complete facilities, such as beds, wardrobes, and others.

“Each huntara unit will be equipped with two beds, a wardrobe, and a fan. In addition, this area is also equipped with supporting facilities such as a dining area, toilet, kitchen, prayer room, and green open space,” Ara said, quoted from a written statement on Sunday (19/4/2026).

The huntara construction progress is rapid, with a completion target of 15 June 2026. However, Ara highlighted some technical obstacles that are being addressed to ensure the project runs optimally.

“Indeed, there are some issues like PDAM, I will directly coordinate with the Governor of DKI Jakarta. For PLN and Telkom, I will coordinate with Mr Rosan and Mr Doni. This must be resolved before 15 June,” she clarified.
